- This directory contains the 'ECCO version 4, release 2' oceanic observation input:
 sigma*.bin *.err *.rms    uncertainty fields used by MITgcm/pkg/ecco
 sshv4_scale_*.bin         smoothing scale fields used by MITgcm/pkg/ecco
 mdt_pak09.bin             mean dynamic topography estimate (see Forget et al 2015; Table 6)
 some_T_atlas.bin          monthly temperature climatology (see Forget et al 2015; Table 6)
 some_S_atlas.bin          monthly salinity climatology (see Forget et al 2015; Table 6)

- Notes:
 These binary files can be read in Matlab using read_bin.m (http://mitgcm.org/viewvc/MITgcm/
  MITgcm_contrib/gael/matlab_class/gcmfaces_IO/) as part of the gcmfaces toolbox (see gcmfaces.pdf
  indicated below). They are also directly readable by the MITgcm when using the LLC90 setup
  to re-run the ECCO v4 ocean state estimate (see eccov4.pdf link provided below).
