There are house-pits at the= mouth of the Killey and several other places along that stretch of river. = If you wanted a dot on a map, the mouth of the Killey would be the most lik= ely place the plant was collected. Stepanka's Village was abandoned after = the influenza epidemic in 1918-19 although people regularly went back and i= s well known among Kenaitze to this day. Stephen Stepanka was the last chie= f and it was probably named, in English, for him.
