"Barber, Kevin" 05/16/2011 06:41 AM To cc bcc Subject RE: 2011 Kenai Arthropod Rapid Ecological Assessment History: This message has been replied to. Matt; The flies arrived today in good shape despite the box looking like it had been squeezed/crushed somewhat. I have gone through them quickly and have the following preliminary IDs (also in attached spreadsheet - all changes in red type with added genders in black). There were 3 misidentifications and a Trixoscelis in the unidentified half. The A.tenuis IDs are good but there is a pair of specimens I have left as A.macra-grp for now. I think these represent one of two other species in the group but won't be able to ID the male (missing tip of abdomen from a blowout rupture during collection or even a traumatic separation of an in copula pair - not since preparation) and the females I am still not very good at. There are two specimens of Arganthomyza (the widespread #8B which looks convincingly like a macra-grp species externally) that will be useful for the upcoming revisions while the remaining Anthomyza spp. will be worked into the Anthomyza revision projected to start late next year. I was wondering where the depository for the 3 specimens from Guelph BIO will be. Are these eventually to be housed at KNWR or are they now property of BIO? If they are still KNWR property, could I consider this loan to be for 16+3=19 specimens? By the way, the specimen from BIO identified as #2west I agree with - I think this was not a specimen I had seen before. Thanks very much for getting this all arranged for me. Let me know if you need more information or clarification of anything here.
