Today I am trying out notes on the iPad just to see how it works.

I did go on a short walk looking for spruce aphids, but I found none.

The ice is still not out on Headquarters Lake.

I collected and photographed a beetle from a highly decayed log, I think spruce (2016MLB005) near the maintenance yard.

From this same log I also collected Diptera larvae which I placed in a lifescanner sample vial (BOLD-VG2).

I also collected and photographed live geophilid, which, upon seeing that it was likely Strigamia chionophila and that this species was not represented in BOLD, I placed this in lifescanner sample vial BOLD-QY5.
