Dear Cliff,

I photographed more of our Lepidoptera specimens today in hopes of 
obtaining determinations for them.  The URI's for 11 of these specimens 
are included below.  Would you be willing to peruse these?

Hi Matt,

Here is my take on your photos. When he is back from travel, I'll contact 
Don Lafontaine, as noted below. I have captured the images in question. 
There are over 20 known species of Eupithecia in Alaska and they are all 
pretty much nondescript little gray moths with black markings. I think 
that your moth in E. niphadophilata, which I have collected in Haines. 
Eupithecia is one of my speciality areas, but in general I will not make 
sight IDs, as there is too great a margin for error.

condition of the specimen which species is shown. The moth is either Hyppa 
contrasta McD. or H. brunneicrista Sm. I think H. contrasta from the dark 
color.

photo what this moth is. There are several species that it could be. If 
you can, look at the eyes under a microscope and let me know if there are 
very fine widely spaced short hairs projecting from the eye surface.
